Supporting Urban Agriculture

SUA is an urban farm in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. We work to collectively strengthen local food security and access through sustainable growing and selling practices.

We will not be doing the SUA CSA Boxes this coming growing season. After 5 years of dishing them out year round it was definately a hard decision. It was quite the journey. We will be focusing on resturants and the neighborhoods needs more this growing season. Much love and gratitude to all those who stcuk with us over the years we cannot express how much it meant to us to get your support. We will let y'all know where to find our produce once we start selling.

UPDATES Starting September 2016

Boxes Coming SOON!

Great thanks to all of our emphatic supporters. Summer storms proved to be devastating to so much of Louisiana. SUA is grateful for the minimal damage— but has also been forced to rethink a more sustainable growing strategy. As a result we are offering multiple options and memberships for box customers. In addition we will have garden veggies available at the following farmers markets, should you want even more.

—Pay it forward plans—

Sustainability Subscription: We now have a program that offers a significant discount for a 10-box subscription. 10 delivered boxes: $250 must be paid upfront

Neighbor Box Option: Connecting the neighbor back to hood, SUA is offering an even more discounted subscription that would pair your 10 boxes with a family in the neighborhood who can’t afford a weekly boxes. 20-delivered boxes (10 for you, 10 for a family): $400 must be paid upfront.

Sliding Scale Boxes: We hear you! Many of our emphatic customers have told us “theres too much in our box!”… we don’t want to change that, but we definitely hear what you’re sayin’. From now on, our weekly boxes will still be generously stuffed with fruits and veggies from our network of local growers. In order to keep them full and continue home delivery we have a new sliding scale weekly option- You choose! $30-$40 each week for your box, same payment options apply, cash, check or credit card on line.

— Delivery Changes!: We will offer a two hour delivery time each week, 4pm-6pm on Tuesdays. Customers may choose to have their boxes delivered between those times, or pay extra for another time on Tuesday. Special arrangements can still be made to leave boxes at houses, on porches, in trees but SUA will not be liable should they grow legs. In summary: Delivery 4pm-6pm on Tuesday, Free. $10 for custom delivery time.

— Eco-Logic Boxes! Growards for recycling your SUA boxes. Return your boxes each week, and get a SUA punch sticker. Every 10 punches is a free item in your next box

— Unity Partnering: Look for community partners in our boxes. As part of our commitment to highlighting the intentional neglect of healthy foods in marginalized communities SUA will be pairing up with a cross section of grassroots organizations in New Orleans. Each week we hope to include information on the organization and ways to get involved.
